The other weekend we took my brother, his girlfriend
and another friend from Brazil to Borough market.
That's truly an unique sensorial experience. Well, that's
not new to anyone that lives in London, right? But my
point here is about this sort of wine sketch book we
keep at home. Basically, of every wine we think
deserve to be on our book ;-) we try to come with a
sensorial description of the experience while having
a sip of it, plus the respective label. From colour to
smell (or bouquet like a connoisseur would say) to taste.
All in very simple manner, just trying to be faithful
to our senses. It's really difficult (at least for me!).

This time we would make an exception, allowing
a beer we bought at the belgium beer stall at the
Market into our picky selections. I couldn't remove
the label of Cristal, this amazing Cuban lager so
I've put it in a water jar to facilitate the process.

The photo above is what ended up happening...
I added some labels to the jar and love the optical effect.
I like the outcome, but decided to keep our sommelier
book, a sommelier book. ;-) SAÚDE!

I went to Frieze Art Fair and there were some
really cool stuff. Lots of buzz, lots of elegant people,
supposedly art collectors. Blah blah blah. BUT there
were also lots of crap. So for that pieces that don't
deserve our attention, I took photographs.
Floor photographs. The can festival seemed
to me much fresher.

Top picure is from TICRO Hair – www.ticrohair.com.
That's a pearl I've found tucked away in London's Convent Garden, where I became a regular for my quarterly hair cut. Couldn't be more Japan. The staff is all Japanese, the service is brilliant. A proper experience. That lives up to what people say that in Japan consumer is king. And, surprise, totally inexpensive. I've heard in you have to study 2 years to a license to cut people's hair, so expect the most meticulous hair cut ever.

The second one is Inamo Restaurant – www.inamo-restaurant.com. You make your orders from your interactive table. Simply awesome. You can also play games and change the projected table theme. Right, you might say, we all have seen this before – take the Microsoft Surface. However, I've never seen it working properly in commercial scale. The funny thing is you get so into it at first, but then forget. Becomes natural. Proper human interaction. Not to mention the food, an amazing fusion of all sorts of Asian influences – the guy was chef of Hakkassan and Nobu – so after all highly recommended and worth every penny.

Collaborative Type – Phase II

postgraduate student at LCC, I've started a project
called Collaborative Type. Now I'm gonna develop
a series of poster having that project as a starting
point. I'll post each work here as soon
as I finish them. This one here is a initial study
for the first one.

This awesome (and blatantly useless) application was removed
from App. store by Apple.

It does nothing and costs $999.99. No, it's not a joke. It's basically
a virtual gem to show off you've got a stuffed bank account.

It's curious to see how Apple is becoming a real Big Brother.
Well, we all have to agree they provided us amazing stuff with iPhone.
But everything come at a price, I guess.
If you really look deep at it, the only big difference (despite being cheaper)
found on the 3G iPhone from the previous one are the applications,
which was already available to users who hacked their phones.
The possibility of downloading apps. wouldn't be launched without another consumerist and epic show from Apple. So to me, that was the real purpose of releasing this new generation of iPhones and it was what enabled the manufacturer to dramatically low the prices.

This is not the first time Apple removes an app. Sometime ago I've heard they
rubbed out something called NetShare, that allowed users to connect their iPhones to
a computer and use it as a modem to surf the net.

The good old Apple is dead.

Asia 1

We just came back from an amazing trip to Asia. It
was our first time there and I was truly impressed by the
hospitality and friendliness of the people. Also, the quality
of service is something you don't see quite often in Europe.
I've heard from a couple friends that in Japan is the same
sort of thing: customer is king. It makes sense when
you think that people are there being paid to serve you,
the opposite of sometimes happens in Europe, when you
sit in a bar and have the impression the
waiter is doing you a favour. Anyway...

I don't want to lose my point here... Our first stop was in
Kuala Lumpur. Pretty impressive how those guys are doing.
One thing caught my attention: even though the country is
officially Muslim, a variety of beliefs are equally tolerated.

The photo here was taken outside of Sri Mahamariamman,
a popular Hindu temple in central KL.

Equalizer

I have to say this was extremely time consuming and
painstaking work, enjoyable is the outcome though.
Well, at least that's what I think.

We shot frame by frame and used the photshop
just for minor color adjustments and minor tweaks
on the composition.

Each frame corresponds exactly to the actual graphic
equalizer. To ensure that, we've shot the real equalizer,
then brought the footage to the set and positioned all
bits and pieces accordingly.

Our graffiti on BBC 10pm News – London Can Festival

Sorry for only posting this today. It's been a while since
we had the Can Festival around in London. Basically a bunch
of graffiti artists, leaded by Banksy, took a dank tunnel next
to Waterloo as a blank canvas to come up with some amazing
genuine street art. Also anyone who had a desire to leave their
mark could bring a stencil and a spray can to get a pair of dirty
hands at the end. I couldn't be out of it and did and amazing job
I have to say. Well, in the humblest opinion at least,
we did our best and funnily enough our stuff were spotted and
broadcasted at BBC 10pm news a week later. In fact, the report
was on Gordon Brown and politics I can't deny argh...
But it was still there on telly. I'll try to get the footage for you guys.

Being true to ourselves

We have to be true to the product or service we're trying
to show or sell. BENEFIT => Look at this guerrilla execution
for Last Minute.com. We could have thought it was about crisps.
Well, maybe it's just me. Anyway, let's say it was. Why would
would you bother? Going through the hassle that is traveling
nowadays would make things even worse. WHY? We should
always ask this to ourselves: why someone would bother about
one supposedly great idea we have. In this case they're purely
and solely the benefit of the product, being going to the theater
and be entertained.

This is a hub for many fishermen and some fishing companies on the Island. This means great and fresh fish everyday. Floripa is also famous for its Oysters, here you can easily find them very cheap. Last, not least, this is also a place to taste a Pastel de Camarão (Prawn Pastel, for those who don't know this brazilian delicacy: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/bluelist/index.cfm?fa=main.viewList&list_id=1365 with a genuine chopp gelado (ice cold draft beer).
